| I've never seen it in truth and don't really know what it is, other than an endurance version of the triathlon? Is that correct?

| Yes, it's a triathlon competition. It was started in 1978 and is held in Hawaii which actually has some incredibly rugged terrain. The competition features a 2.4 mile swim in the ocean at Kailua-Kona Bay, a 112 mile bike portion across the lava desert and back, and a 26.2 mile marathon down the coast of the Big Island. It gets pretty intense and the athletics shown are nothing short of amazing in this grueling test.

I just love this competition. The beginniing swim is challenging enough but add in the bike riding and the marathon and it is just plain grueliing. The athletes that compete in the this competition have to be the most well-rounded athletes of all.
Go, Colts!!
