Seems like players are trading clubs like playing cards this year. Valencia is selling off some of their best, Ronaldo appears to be moving, Ferguson is threatening to resign as coach...a lot of turmoil in the MLS right now. Also a lot of rumors flying around about who's next to be sold and for how much. Do you think this will have a negative affect on the sport this year?

I know it is having a negative effect on the fans. I have visited other boards where people are discussing all these changes and the general consensus seems to be a lot of angry people!

I know what you mean. I've seen several people posting that they have had enough and they're not going to bother this year. It just seems that the MLS is getting as money-focused as the NFL in the United States. It's more about how much money can be made then the enjoyment of the game.

I am not sure I understand why all the hubbub in the MLS about these trades.  This is a professional league and the clubs need to make money - so they trade talent that they think will deliver the goods at the end of the season.  This happens in every professional team sport.  I'm sure fans would be angrier if their team kept losing every year.

This is not the only way that they make money. You know, there was a time when the fuss used to actually be about the game-they cared about it. Now I'm not so sure.

I agree completely with the previous post by Player.  What's the big deal?  In order to get better, teams have to get rid of the mediocre players and get some decent ones.  As mentioned, all sports do it and I highly doubt MLS is going to lose many (if any) fans over this.

I think the reason people are getting upset is that it's not just "mediocre" players that are getting traded. It's the excellent players, like Ronaldo and others, that are getting traded off for large sums that are sparking all the debate. Other teams wouldn't be paying the high pricetags if some of these guys weren't great players.

I think the majority of major league sports all boils down to money these days. We would expect alot of trading in Major League Baseball but it seems to be carrying over into several different areas lately.
