Do you think that Wenger was right in benching Gallas much less taking away the captaincy from him because he, Gallas, made harsh criticisms of his fellow team-mates?

Was or was it not justified? I am a little stick in the middle right now as I am sure others are too. It is a hard call to make and I am happy its not mine to do all the time (make the call like that).

I don't think he should have bad-mouthed his team so publicly.  In the locker room is fine, he's the captain - and I certainly can't imagine the rest of team rallying around him after that.  Benching him, on the other hand, was overdoing it especially as he's such a strong and reliable player.
